Summer School 'Photonics for Health'
The Summer School “Photonics for Health” took place in San Martino di Castrozza, Italy, on 18th – 22nd June 2017. The Summer School was focused on different applications of photonic devices with the theme “Health” and disseminated the results of various European projects, including RAIS, providing information about the most recent and relevant research topics. The class topics contained basic photonics components, related technologies and design methods.
Photonics was presented as the basis and the core technology, but speakers covered multi-disciplinary know-how including competencies in:
- Microfluidics
- Biochemistry
- Engineering
- System integration
The School was targeted towards young researchers and scientists (PhD students, Masters graduates, early-stage researchers and future entrepreneurs) in the field of Photonics related to the Health domain. The lectures were organised into different sessions for the various participating projects, in addition to a general overview with keynote speakers. Daily open-air tours were offered to enhance the participants’ experience and allow them to forge new relationships.
RAIS participated with four speakers:
- Roland Terborg (ICFO)
- Filiz Yesilköy (EPFL)
- Maria Carmen Estevez (ICN2, CSIC)
- Mathieu Rabaey (Trinean)
Overall, the Summer School was extremely successful, with 56 attendees including some students from RAIS partners. See here for more details
